Budweiser Shot:

1.Bud shot looks like Bud (gold in a glass), smells like bud (slightly skunky, vaguely malty) and tastes like Bud (sweet, a little skunky, malty; maybe a little more malty) but with an alcohol burn. It comes in a four-pack of mini-cans.

2.Interestingly, to me anyway, there is actually less total alcohol in a 236 ml can of Budweiser Shot (16.52 ml pure alcohol) than there is in regular 355 ml 5% Budweiser (17.75 ml pure alcohol). Though you can still drink this stuff much more quickly and therefore get drunker. Also they seem designed to sneak into places being pocket-sized and sporting a sharp looking black colour scheme. All in all, if you are a Bud fan and want to get wasted... well, this Bud's for you.

My single most popular article I have ever written wasn't a review of a Belgian Tripel or of a Manitoba Saison, nope - it was for a review of Anheuser-Busch InBev's Natty Daddy Malt Lager "drink."

So hey, after joking with a friend, I decided that it would be funny to do a project where I actually would occasionally review not-so-great beers. I call this Skunkworth's Barleyslime project. A combination of suggestions from Mike, Grant and myself. Barleyslime, as some of you can already tell - is a wordplay on barley wine, a style of beer that's just heavenly delicious.

Here we go!

Anheuser-Busch released the Budweiser Shot starting this past week. The Budweiser Shot is their take on Molson Canadian Coldshots and Molson Dry Coldshots, which were smaller packaged versions of their most "popular" beverages with more alcohol and had the possibly to appeal attractive to the underage drinker crowd as higher alcohol content plus low cost equals let's party!

The Budweiser Shot comes in a box of four 237mL cans, has a 7% alcohol content and comes at a price tag that's not much over $5.

The appearance is straw hay, and yes - I DID use a Budweiser shot glass, but only coincidentally. The head is slightly white foam. The Shot looks like a regular Budweiser... but regular Budweiser beer doesn't usually have weird dirt bits floating atop like this one does ...why? For aroma, corn, malt, sugar and straw. Taste is just what you would expect - American corn water. I taste corn, too much sugar, some malt, some straw and I just can't get rid of the sugary maltiness off of my palate! Yuck.

After only a small brief sip of this Shot, my stomach started to hurt and that ONLY happens when I consume bad beer, so beware!

If you must try this beer, then don't say I didn't warn you. The fact that there's bits of dirt floating IN my beer makes it seem as if it's lower quality than standard A-B brews... Did they lease the Budweiser brand to Minhas?

Lastly, at $5-ish for a 4 pack of 237ml cans, this may be attractive to underage drinkers. I still remember seeing younger friends (when THEY were underage) drinking, they drank Molson Coldshots.
